Colour drenching is one of the easiest, yet dramatic ways to paint a bedroom. The popularity for this paint trend has no signs of slowing down in 2025, although the new term ‘double drenching‘ is one to watch out for too…
I’m personally a huge fan of colour drenching, and have multiple rooms in my home drenched in a range of colours. There’s only one decision on colour to go for, and it can make smaller and larger spaces feel more intimate.
Tempted to try this hot colour trend but not sure what shade to go for? From laidback blues to spicy reds, here are some of the best colour drenching ideas for the bedroom.
23 Bold Colour Drench Bedroom Ideas To Transform Your Space
1.The Unexpected Red Theory In Practice
Coined as ‘the unexpected red theory’ on TikTok, this trend suggests that having something red in a room is one of the best ways to execute a stylish interior, so why not go all in on the walls and ceiling with red?
If you’re new to colour drenching, this involves saturating the walls, ceiling, doors and woodwork in the same colour. Some people refer to all the walls being drenched in a bold colour, colour drenching, but this is not the same thing.
The bedroom below is expertly drenched in Sherwin Williams Roycroft Rose, a gorgeous burnt red orange shade which totally transforms this room. Opting for cooler shades on accessories and bedding is a great way to balance the spicy intensity of a red.

2. A Moody Bedroom Scheme
For a masculine feel, opt for a dark green, it carries a moody, sultry feel and looks fab in this bedroom which is combined with a home office. I love how the colour has been carried through to the desk for a true colour drenched look.
Let’s talk about paint. Typically, elements like woodwork need a different type of paint, but this does bring different sheens with it. However, using the same colour in different sheens, such as typical emulsion on the walls and eggshell on the trim, the slight difference creates contrast and adds dimension to the room.
If you want to create a colour drenched look that is flawless in colour and sheen throughout, I really rate Farrow and Ball Dead Flat. We used Sulking Room Pink by Farrow and Ball in our powder room and the matte effect throughout is due gorgeous.

3. The Room Pleaser
If you’re not sure what colour to drench your bedroom with, green is always a good idea.
