What Colours Go With Dulux Soft Truffle?

The softest brown neutral that looks gorgeous in any room.

After years of grey washing, we have been openly welcoming earthy neutrals into our humble abodes, and brown has become one of the hottest neutrals over the last couple of years.

I’m no different. I find grey cold, and your interiors will forever be ruled by this colour if you have grey carpet, or curtains.

With warm neutrals, you can have so much more fun, whilst they bring such a calming and modern influence to a space.

Let’s explore this muted shade further, and explore what colours go with Dulux Soft Truffle.

What Colour Is Dulux Soft Truffle?

Dulux Soft Truffle is a beautifully warm brown helped by its pink, and grey undertones. This versatile shade is a great way to incorporate brown into your interiors, an earthy neutral that is complementary to many other neutral colours, and those with subtle pink undertones.

Neutral Combinations

As Soft Truffle is such a neutral colour, it also goes well with other neutral shades such as Intense Truffle and Pink Skies, also Dulux colours.

If you want to define the space a bit more, a shade such as Intense Truffle is a great darker neutral to use on architraves, skirting and doors.

For a softer neutral, Pink Skies is a great choice as it also has subtle pink undertones which makes this a good tonal combination too.

Designer’s Choice Combinations

Whilst I personally think neutrals and off-whites are the best pairings for Soft Truffle, Dulux recommend a couple of daring blue shades as a match.

Tonally, they totally don’t work. But if you’re looking to create a bit of visual interest and something a bit different, these shades could look great.

Dulux have suggested Peppermint Candy and Teal Touch. Using colours like this in your setup, you could incorporate them through furnishings, decor accessories or use on your walls.

Soft Truffle & Black

If you’re creating a modern looking interior decor scheme, incorporating black is a perfect choice. A black accent is a defining characteristic of modern design, and it provides a defining and grounding accent against the neutrality of Soft Truffle.

Black should be used sparingly with interior hardware details such as door handles, small pieces of furniture like console tables or side tables, and as an accent on decor accessories such as prints.

If you’re decorating a hallway, adding black to the bannister and spindles is a timeless and popular pairing.

Soft Truffle & White

An off-white is a great pairing for Soft Truffle because it’s on the same neutral spectrum, however, if you want to really lift things and provide a stark contrast, bright white is a great choice.

If you’re using Soft Truffle on the walls, lift the room by painting the ceiling and skirtings with a bright white paint. The contrast from the walls to the ceiling will draw the eye up as you enter the room, helping the room to feel larger than it actually is.

If you’re using it in a bathroom, think about crisp white towels for a beautiful contrast!

Soft Truffle & Green

Pretty much any neutral combinations work with a warm brown shade, and earthy greens are so complementary to this shade. A neutral colour scheme like this is perfect for so many home decor schemes including Scandic, modern, rustic and modern farmhouse.

Use earthy greens in the textiles, curtains, plants and even on the doors and architraves for added warmth, and depth to the space.

Soft Truffle & Pink

When choosing complementary colours, it’s always important to look at the undertones of the shade. As Soft Truffle has undertones of pink, and as a neutral, it works so well with muted, dusky shades of pink for a really cool colour palette.

For a boho, Scandic feel, layer pink into the setting with throws, cushions and other decor accessories. Just remember to use it in subtle doses to avoid overkill in the room.

Soft Truffle & Grey

Another tonal combination for Soft Truffle is grey. If you really don’t want to leave grey in 2022, you can embrace it as another neutral with Soft Truffle. Introduce creams and whites into the equation for a less harsh, cooler colour palette.

If you already have a grey carpet or grey curtains, Soft Truffle can still very much be part of your home decor plans, it’s time we stopped letting grey rule our interior design lives!

Soft Truffle & Earthy Materials

Lean into a rustic, earthy design and introduce natural materials such as wood, brick slips, stone and ceramic.

Brown is naturally an earthy colour so other like colours that we can take from our surroundings will help to create a cosy and soothing colour scheme.

If you’re looking for a versatile shade from Dulux that’s neutral but adds more warmth than a white, Soft Truffle is a charming shade that’s highly complementary with other colours.

Warm the colour up by incorporating a range of other neutrals, or be daring and incorporate bolder pops of colours.

Just remember to use the undertones as a guide when picking other like colours, but you can experiment with bolder pops of colour too if you want a more maximalist decor scheme in your home. Happy painting!
