There’s something so elevated and luxurious about an outdoor shower, and you don’t have to wait until heading to a far flung beach destination to capture the beauty of them in your own home.
From beautiful tile play to wabi sabi style designs, there are so many on-trend and stylish ways to pull together an outdoor shower, and you don’t need to have a swimming pool to bring one into your outdoor space either. Be prepared to be inspired with these 19 ideas!
19 Outdoor Shower Ideas That Feel Straight Out of a Luxury Hotel
1. Have Some Fun With Tile Play
Interesting tile play will forever be one of my favourite ways to lift any shower enclosures, and with an outdoor shower, it can feel easier to go even bolder and have more fun with it.
Think of using different colours from the same tile and laying in an unusual yet interesting pattern which goes against the status quo. Playing around with combinations on the floor is a great way to see what you like before it goes into your finished design.
2. Ground The Area
You can have even more fun with the floor of an outdoor shower as it doesn’t have to be sealed and water tight like an indoor shower enclosure.
Gravel or stones like the below are great for drainage, and they bring a lovely tactile feel underfoot.
3. Copper Pipe Shower
Outdoor showers are what you make them, and this stand alone shower is so simple yet effective. Utilising old copper piping for an industrial edge that looks incredible in the surrounding wilfdlower garden here!
You can use wood to support the shower head like below if you don’t have access to a wall.
4. Neutral Stripe
One of my favourite designs has to be this shower below. So beautifully fitting for a chateaux farmhouse or a cottage, a beautiful neutral shade that works with the surrounding architecture.
Stripes are enduringly timeless too, and they add that extra element of interest as the two shades are bordered with one another here.
5. Wood Panelling
Be hugged by nature by going down the wood slat panelling route, it’s timeless and works perfectly in any outdoor space for a fully natural feel.
Set it off with a darker shade on panels or fencing behind to ground the shower area and to let it focus the eye.
6. Imperfect Stone Wall
We’re definitely starting to see a lean towards the use of more imperfect finishes when it comes to tiling and shower areas throughout the home. Where better to utilise it than in an outdoor shower for that wabi sabi feel.
I love positioning imperfect tiles together, such as with this stone wall below. Each area, and each angle engages you in a different way, it feels more organic and makes a design look so much more interesting.
7. Add A Border
Another simple way to update a tile layout is to add a border, whether you do this at the bottom and top, or try something like the below image, segmenting the flow of the tiles as you go up.
You can still use the same colour way, but it adds that little bit of extra character and fun than a standard layout. Zellige tiles are a great choice for outdoor use to as their gloss finish engages the eye differently in different lights, they’re naturally organic with their fired and glazed finish and blend in beautifully outdoors in a green, mottled finish.
8. Stone Style Wall
Blend in with the existing architecture and install a shower head straight onto your walls for a seamless, discrete outdoor shower that doesn’t look out of place.
The tonal coloured gravel underfoot helps to keep it looking consistent, whilst acting as great drainage for the shower.
9. Embrace The Coolness of Chrome
Brass and gold accents have become some of the most popular accents in the last couple of years, but there’s much more of a resurgence of chrome and nickel, and I personally love how these cool tones balance an outdoor shower scheme.
They’re subtle, not fighting for attention, and they pair so well against the outdoor greenery in this shower setup shown in the image below.
10. Draw The Eye In With Teal
Teal is a trending colour for 2026 and it just feels so good to be around. It feels slightly more elevated than the baby blue tones, and with a zellige finish on a tile like the below Ca’ Pietra tiles, it draws the eye in and feels so luxurious with the stone surrounding them.
Finish with a brass shower head to balance, and bring warmth against the teal.
11. Lean Into The Architecture
This is another example where the surrounding exterior of the outdoor space has been used for the shower head to create a flawless, intentional shower area.
Invest in a luxurious rainfall shower head for a truly spa like experience.
12. Add Definition With Black
Go to the dark side and use black tiles to ground and define the shower enclosure outside. Naturally, it will show dirt less as well which is always a huge bonus if you live in a rainy climate, or it gets used often by the whole family.
Add some brass shower head details for some much needed warmth.
13. Imperfect Wabi Sabi Finish
That imperfect finish is so popular with outdoor showers, it feels more organic, and authentic. Take it from the floor to the walls with a different style of tile, or lean into using a darker grout for the floor tiles to make them stand out more.
A darker grout tile on the floor will make the shower area much easier to maintain over time as well.
14. Tile Up
I absolutely love this outdoor shower, surrounded with plenty of plants and foliage for that tropical outdoor experience.
Stack your tiles vertically for a beautiful, imperfect feel. Instead of leaving space for grout lines, butt them up as close as you can with one another for that imperfect look. This works best with zellige style tiles which often have a slight variation in size to one another.
15. Tropical Feel
This walled shower enclosure is so simple, but ultra relaxed and stylish. Wrap the wall with stones like the below, it brings texture, colour, an imperfect feel and tactile effect.
Use a darker, more defining straight tile on the floor to add beautiful definition.
16. Add An Arch
Arches will forever bring a timeless feel to an outdoor shower, and add a lovely softness against the more angular, straight lines of a property.
Follow the line of the arch inside with am intricate detail or tile to mimic those soft lines.
17. Gravel & Stones
This feels like an outdoor shower fit for a cosy cottage, using the fabrication of the building for the shower wall, it fits in beautifully and is sympathetic to the age of the property.
Use a mixture of paving stepping sones and gravel underfoot for a cohesive finish.
18. Circular Shower Floor
Switch things up and pay attention to what goes on underneath the shower head. This circular shower floor is a little bit different, draws the eye in and acts as a well zoned area.
Whilst not connected to the shower itself, I adore the gentle LED backlit bench which creates a really ambient look.
19. Rustic Wooden Panels
Make use of rustic wooden panels for a farmhouse, style feel. Leaving a slight gap between the panels lets light flow through and adds an organic feel to the shower.
Introduce some black accents for that characteristic, farmhouse look.
