On the hunt for the perfect rug? I’ve been scouring the high street for a project over the last couple of weeks, and there is so much goodness out there!
There’s so many considerations when choosing a rug, the practicality factor (high traffic, kids, pets), the material, design, and more importantly, getting the size right. I always say, if it feels too small, then it means you should definitely size up. My top tip when it comes to sizing? Mark the area with masking tape beforehand so you can see how the size feels with furniture. For spaces like a living room or dining room, furniture should always comfortably sit on a rug with a good margin around it too.
Earthy inspired rugs are the perfect antidote to any interior scheme at the moment, they bring natural warmth and will ground any room. Let me get these 8 stunning rugs on your radar…

I think this first rug from Next is my absolute favourite – the colours, raised detail, tactile feel, natural warmth. It literally has everything and is in the mid price bracket for a rug, I am obsessed. It’s a very popular design though so don’t hang around if you like it!
Checkerboard design is still doing the rounds in interiors and I love it just as much as stripes for an uncomplicated pattern to add a room. I’ve got a couple of bordered options here, the leopard print style one from La Redoute is beautiful, more of a warmer design which would be fab for a cosy living room or reading nook.
For something a little bit more stripped back and minimal in style, the white cross jute style rug is simple yet will ground any flooring.
Just because it’s earthy inspired it doesn’t have to instantly mean reaching for a jute rug. I’m a huge fan of jute, but you can be more adventurous and add something really sublime to nail a signature earthy look. The Abigail Ahern blue bordered rug with tassels adds a little bit of extra interest and colour to a room. The perfect base for layering with a larger jute rug or for adding to the side of a bed in a bedroom or perhaps even to greet you in your entryway.
