The colour trends are leading the way this year when it comes to Autumn inspired decor for the living room and beyond, from rich decadent browns to aubergine reds that feel grounding and cosy.
Autumn decor trends tend to change year on year, and we’re seeing subtle shifts for the season ahead with more understated items that nod to Autumn, richer colour palettes and more soothing tones.
The Best Autumn-Inspired Living Room Decor Trends for 2025
1.Burnt Copper Beech Branches
Leaning into those red, rustier colours for Autumn is one of the easiest ways to get your living room season ready, without it feeling tacky or being expensive.
Copper beech branches are one of my favourite types of stems for this season (be it real branches or faux stems like these from Amazon ), they bring an organic, rustic feel to an interior and look gorgeous paired with other earthy materials be it wood, or bronze/brass accents.
2. Subtle, Neutral Tones
Whilst richer, bolder colours have set the tone for 2025, leaning into softer, subtle neutrals is still an ever popular trend.
Warm creams, whites and greys add a more elevated feel to autumn decor, specifically for items such as mini pumpkins. Introduce a contrasting colour through faux stems as shown beautifully in the living room below.
3. Tiny Pumpkin Details
We’re seeing much more stripped back decor ideas this year which can subtly sit in the background without overpowering a rooms scheme.
Mini pumpkins, ceramic, real or other are sweet ways to add a seasonal element to your living room without going out of your design comfort zone.
4. Warm Wooden Elements
Wooden accents lend themselves to the cosy season of Autumn, exuding natural warmth which creates a cosy, grounding feel in a living room.
The natural slat wood panelling provides a workable base, use elements such as wooden candle holders, frames and pairing with white ceramic vases and pumpkins for a subtle balance.
5. Autumnal Textiles
Switching up your living room textiles is an easy and fun way to keep with the seasons. Change up cushions and throws for the season ahead, leaning into warmer, richer colours and textures for an added tactile approach.
If you’re looking for some fail safe fabric patterns, plaid is one that is always a winner, be it in a neutral or a richer colour.
6. Dried Hydrangeas
There are plenty of faux or dried stems that are autumn appropriate and dried hydrangeas are some of my favourites! They bring a really unique colour with them, I adore those green, rouge tones for something that adds a little bit of added interest.
7. Fireplace Mantle Styling
A fireplace is often a focal point in a living room if you have one, so use it to your advantage and be creative!
Mantle styling and garlands have grown more popular, and more extravagant as the years go by. Take note of the below to kickstart your creativity!
You’ll need a good strong base to build this from, floral blocks or more organic solutions are an option, you’ll need plenty of real or faux stems and cable ties to create a similar look.
8. Scale Up
Throughout interior design as a whole, one of my top pieces of advice is to always scale up! It gives the illusion of a bigger space and feels more grand and elevated.
A great example of this is the below organic vase with huge stems, the texture and variation of sizes on the styling below is exquisite. It’s reminiscent of the season but so tastefully done.
9. Updated Shelf Styling
Take inspiration from the below shelf styling for the season ahead! Shelves are such a fun and playful way to update in a living room, especially if you have similar alcove storage.
Swap elements or add in some sweet little munchkin pumpkins for some instant warmth on those shelves.

10. Bold, Contrasting Colours
Fancy redecorating? Check out this stunning aubergine colour in the living room below, it’s cosy and the perfect contrasting colour for orange autumnal tones as it sits at the other end of the colour spectrum.
11. Half Arch Garland Styling
Another alternative to creating a stand out garland feature on your mantle is by creating a semi half arch garland around a mirror, similar to the below.
This can be slightly easier to achieve as you have a static structure to work from, and far less stems and garlands are needed to create the look. If you want a slightly fuller look, use two or three garlands intertwined with each other.
12. Autumn Inspired Gallery Wall
Gallery walls can be a lot of fun and they can be easy to update with Autumn appropriate prints as the season rolls around.
Consider colours and landscapes as well as autumn printed signs such as the below setup!
13. Swap For Earthy Textiles
Earthy interiors are super popular right now and this colour palette and type of material used makes it ideal for an Autumnal colour palette too.
Colours that we can draw from nature around us all work well together, think oranges, rusty reds, greens, browns and creams.
14. Elevate A Console Table
If you have a console table or a sideboard in your living room, see this as your inspiration to get it styled for the ‘ber months.
Pretty garlands are an easy option to drape and add additional texture. Create an anchor with a large vase and autumnal stems and introduce height and interest with a stack of books, candles and prints.
15. Sweet Fabric Choices
How gorgeous are these fabric choices in the textiles below? There are plenty of fabrics that are Autumn appropriate, look for gingham, plaid, dainty florals and stripes. Leaning into an autumnal colour palette for that extra cosy touch.
16. Lean Into Brown
If you were on the fence about decorating your living room this Autumn, could this be the persuasion you need? One of the most indulgent colours from Farrow and Ball is Pantalon, as shown below. It’s not brown or green, but carries a mysterious tone which changes in different lighting conditions.
It’s ideal for dark north facing rooms where you wish to lean into the darkness. It’s effortlessly indulgent and pairs splendidly with those autumnal oranges.
17. Modern, Elevated Neutrals
Richer, warmer neutrals are signature staples of the season. Who said beige had to be boring?
Introduce browns, richer creams and taupes in a layered feel with your furniture, curtains and textiles for a cosy feel as Autumn comes around.
18. White Styling
Like Autumn but not the gaudiness? White autumnal decor accessories are a huge hit no matter the decor scheme. Subtle, understated and they pair well with virtually any colour.
Instead of a traditional autumn wreath, have a look at white gypsophila wreaths for instant texture.
19. Earthy, Grounding Elements
Go back to basics with earthy elements that ground a living room, they’re so easy to build on and will carry you through all the seasons.
Wooden elements, rattan, linens and natural elements from the outside world are such simple swaps for Autumn that will create a warming, and cosy ambience in your living room this autumn.
