Eartha Kitt with Santa Baby. Kylie and Robbie with Baby, It’s Cold Outside. The Ronettes with I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus. Yes, the festive period is almost totally designed to bring joy to children’s hearts. And 2018 ONS figures show that there are only around five marriages on Christmas Day each year. But it can be a time for romance as well.
Snuggling under blankets, a few tipples here and there, kisses under the mistletoe. Romance can blossom over the festive period in all kinds of ways. One of our favourites is heading away on a romantic getaway.
So, if you want to run away with your beloved this Christmas but keep the cost down, here’s how.
Consider the destination
If you’re set on heading abroad on your romantic Christmas getaway, think about where’s best to visit. Instead of expensive New York, London, or Paris, think about cheaper locations. Tallinn in Estonia or Riga in Latvia are sure to have snow, but are off the beaten track. Historic Central European cities such as Prague, Bratislava, and Krakow are wonderfully atmospheric!
Find cheaper flights and accommodation
Flights and accommodation aren’t as cheap as they used to be, but there are still deals out there waiting to be snapped up. And one of the best ways to find them is by using a VPN.
Try a VPN for Android, iPhone, PC, or iOS – it will let you surf the internet more safely. VPN will hide your IP address and encrypt your data while you’re online. That way, you can avoid the algorithms and other tracking technologies that airlines and booking sites use to price their deals. As a result, with a VPN, you’ll be able to get Christmas hotels and tickets for much cheaper than otherwise possible.
Look for last-minute deals
Last-minute deals are still out in force, but you need to know where to look. Sites like lastminute.com, HolidayPirates, Secret Escapes, and Voyage Prive are good if you don’t mind booking by the seat of your pants. As long as you’re flexible on dates and times, you could be able to find a great Christmas trip for you and your partner.
Stay closer to home
With the rising cost of living, many people prefer to stay in the UK on their holidays. Now, while it’s inevitable that hotels, B&Bs, and guesthouses will put up their prices over Christmas, there is another way. Instead, plan your Christmas staycation in early December, late November, or early January. Who said that the festivities needed to end on Boxing Day?
Follow the tips above, and you’ll be sure to find the Christmas getaway of your and your beloved’s dreams! Got any suggestions on how to get cheap travel? Let us know in the comments section below.
