Summer has officially landed, or at least it’s trying in the UK… We’re all in hot pursuit of the latest trending fashions to pack away in our suitcases for our summer vacays, and to pose in for the gram, obviously.
I’ve not necessarily been one to follow the latest fashion trends, especially the last two years where the same trackies on repeat has been my jam, lol. But I do tend to opt for timeless outfits, and mix in trending pieces for a stylish look.
From bold colours, to stylish co-ords it’s time to take a look at some of the hottest summer fashion trends for 2022.
It’s not just our interiors that are relishing in the beauty of earthy neutrals, our clothes are loving it too! Browns, creams and earthy greens are ultra flattering colours for every skin complexion, and they can be teamed with other simple colours such as white for an uncomplicated look.
Think a brown slip skirt with a white tee and sneakers, an earthy green slip shirt with cream jeans, or a cream midi dress with a pair of nude block heels to create a sensual, and elevated look.
Neutrals are a timeless colour palette in my eyes, and they can easily be worked into your existing wardrobe, it’s a yes for me!
Co-ords were a HUGE part of our wardrobes 6 years ago, they’ve never really gone away but they’re back with a bang this summer.
Perhaps, the best part is that they’ve had a mature update, it’s no longer about the bodycon, skimpy two pieces, but we are seeing lots more of relaxed options, floaty linen fabrics, and lightweight options.
They’re perfect for that in flight outfit, hitting the beach, or heading out for a casual lunch by the sea.
Suit Up For Summer
No, I’m not talking about those stuffy black suits that are just resided for the board room, summer suits are what we’re talking about, neutral, flattering and lighter fabric options for better breathability during the summer months.
Summer suiting is a great alternative to other co-ords, dresses or tops and separates.
If a full suit is just not a look for you, why not switch it up with a killer white blazer, some relaxed light washed denim shorts and a top. Stylish, yet ultra relaxed.
Strappy clothing is hardly re-inventing the fashion wheel, but it’s set to really take hold in our fashion this summer. From tops with multi straps, skirts with a strapped waistband to tops with a criss cross strap across the waistband.
Strappy tops that cover your décolletage are beautiful, but they’re not for everyone. Opting for a skirt, or trouser piece which incorporates straps is a subtle, yet classy way to make the most of this trend.
Bold Is Back
If neutrals aren’t your thing, bold block colours are making a name for themselves. Popular Pantone colours for the spring/summer 22 season include oranges, yellow, greens, lilac and primary blue.
These fun colours add a spark of personality to any outfit. The key is to use it sparingly in your outfit, and avoid it clashing with other bright colours. Choose one and stick with it!
If a bold outfit scares you half to death, you can easily incorporate colour to a neutral outfit with women’s bags for a fun injection of colour that will make any outfit look killer. Plus, like we need an excuse to buy another bag, right?
Those gorgeous linen, slip midi skirts have become staple parts of a woman’s fashion collection the last couple of years, but we’re throwing streamlined pleats into the mix this summer.
Pleated midis are THE perfect staple for every summer wardrobe. They can easily be dressed up and down, paired with a basic tee, necklace and sneakers or converse for the day, elevated for the evening with strappy heels and a glittery clutch bag.
Midi skirts don’t discriminate. They are perfect for all shapes and sizes, and the pleated lines help to draw the eye down, elongating the body too.
Summer fashion is the perfect time to experiment with colour and try something a little bit different to your normal getup and go.
From bold colours to those gorgeous neutrals, the summer fashion trends for 2022 offer a little bit of something for everyone to try, rain or shine. Which summer fashion trends will you be trying this season?
