If there’s anything I love more than pizza in the whole world it’s sweet food, and there’s no denying I have the sweetest tooth ever. You’ll often find me in a sugar coma regretting eating the whole packet of sugar laces at the cinema, but you can guarantee I’ll be doing the same thing again the following week. lol. life.
If you’re from Plymouth or in the local area you’ll know about the amazing Good Food Market that is held on the first Sunday of every month in the Royal William Yard. I try to make it down most months because I’ve grown to love the regular food stalls. Oh, and you just cannot miss the upcoming December Christmas market they do because it’s easily the best and busiest there is! 2nd December, add it to your diaries.
Based on the success of my similar foodie list posts such as 10 of the best places for breakfast in Plymouth, I’m delivering you my latest instalment of 6 of the best sweet treats you have to get from the good food market, Because let’s face it, I really like cake.
In no particular order…
They say that the place with the longest queue when you’re on holiday is always the best as it’s the most popular with the locals, and this stall is consistently busy. I’ve purchased their brownies a handful of times now and they do not disappoint!
They’re pretty much available in all the amazing flavours you could even dream of, chocolate orange, mint, fudge, awesome chocolate, malteaser, mars bar…hungry yet?
The slices are so large that I usually have a half warmed up and with ice cream, literally the dream, huh? £2.50 for a slice of £8 for a box of 4, so naturally I always get a box.
2. Doughnut Addict
Can we just? <3 I only discovered these guys last month but had spied them on Insta earlier in the year. You can choose plain filled doughnuts with sugar (the standard) or opt for filled and topped. Guess what I chose?
I went for the galaxy and malteaser doughnut and omg it was food porn. Incredibly sweet and super filling, so I’d obviously 100% recommend. Definitely one to feature on the gram too!
3. V Is For Vegggies
A couple of years ago I first got introduced to V is for Veggies at the Lush Plymouth blogger events where she made the most amazing vegan cakes with a lush theme for the event.
I remember visiting her at her first food market and getting the most amazing cupcake. Everything she makes is Vegan and it really is the best. Guilt free snacking.
Look at that cinnamon bun THO!

4. The Marshmallow Man
My mum told me about the marshmallow man after spotting him on the Barbican one afternoon and I had to visit!
Marshmallows topped in chocolate *drools* – literally the best combo ever and I haven’t come across anything else like this before. You can choose what you want it dipped in and they even do s’mores, yes please.

5. The Devon Fudge Company
The Devon Fudge Company holds a place close to my heart because one of my very good friends Dad owns this company and I also ran their Ecommerce website and social media at my old job so I became very accustomed to their fudge.
So, yes it really is the best fudge ever!
They’ve introduced some amazing new flavours this year including Salcombe gin and pink grapefruit. My total fave is the vanilla or Christmas Pudding though which really does taste like the real thing.
They’re at every food market, and needless to say, with Christmas coming up they really do make the perfect presents, especially for those who aren’t local to the Devon area.

6. Karen’s Cakes
An all time fave of mine is Karen’s Cakes who really have been at the very beginning of the markets. I mean, clock your eyes on their biscoff cake.
They’re the most generously sliced cakes that certainly don’t have to be shared – carrot cake, chocolate orange, cheesecake, biscoff, chocolate cake – seriously, when the hardest decision you have the make on a Sunday is which cake slice to go for. How do you decide?!
