Being Basic – A Glossier Purchase

glossier

I know what you’re thinking. I’m basic, and I know it. I feel like my transformation to basic bitch is now complete and what?

Like most things, I always say I won’t jump on the bandwagon like everyone else, but here we are. It looks cute. Course I’m going to buy into it.

I must admit, I still don’t even know really what Glossier is (lol) or what the hype is about. Is it really the products or the damn cute packaging that even comes with stickers and a sample of your choice. I hadn’t even got to the site and I was like TAKE MY MONEY.

Improving my skincare routine is top of my priority this year, but I’m also a little scared as my skin is currently deciding to be worse than my pre pubescent face after using pixi glow tonic.

I’ve recently started to incorporate some higher end products into my routine because like foundation, I have found that the higher end products really do tend to be better. Having said that, Simple products will forever be my go to as they do not upset my skin or cause my skin to turn into something that can only be likened to the bubonic plague. That’s always nice.

Anyway, here’s what I picked up. I guess you could say the skincare gods have been.

Glossier Phase 1 Set – £35

The phase 1 set is apparently where dewy and hydrated skin starts and I certainly need all the help I can get right now. I am that person who buys into claims and packaging. If you’ve ever had acne or problematic skin, you buy ALL the things, normally to find none of them work. But I’m certainly not knocking it until I’ve tried it.

I opted for one of the pre made sets as the products are smaller sizes than buying them separately, so if they do upset my skin I’m not going to have as much product leftover. I like to try more than just one thing too, this set comes in at £35 – it ain’t cheap, but if you compare it to other high end skin brands for what you get it is good value for money. Just an FYI – you can save £8 on the cleanser alone by buying the set.

The Phase 1 set features the blogger holy grail, Milky Jelly Cleanser, Priming Moisturiser and the Rose Balm Dotcom.

I mean, I know I can’t go wrong with another lip balm. This one is available in a few different shades, I went for Rose which has a translucent pink shade and is scented with rose. I’ve already used this and it is an absolute dream. It’s not greasy like your average pot of vaseline and it can be used on pretty much everything from eyelids to elbows that are a bit dry.

I’m yet to use the other 2 products but will be starting to use them in my everyday skin care routine this week.

I’m really looking forward to upgrading to the Milky Jelly Cleanser from my £1 wilko cleanser, I may even be fancy and throw a muslin cloth into the mix too, y’know. It’s meant to be a strong yet mild cleanser that doesn’t dry out your skin, so I’m praying my skin doesn’t react to this product. But if it does, at least I’ve got the product for flatlays, huh.

The Priming Moisturiser can be built up gradually for a dewy and healthy finish that looks good underneath makeup or worn with less makeup. LOL, when brands say you look good enough to wear no makeup with it I’m like NO – I mean, I’d absolutely love to, but when you’re trying to cover up your latest eruptions and red skin, the last thing you want to do it is flaunt it more. More is definitely more for me when it comes to makeup with my skin. But I am hoping this will give me a dewier base that doesn’t scream oil slick.

Let’s see how I get on, I’m hoping for good things though. I only have 1 million and 1 bloggers to blame for this inspired purchase.
