On Saturday I had the pleasure of popping across the water for the day to spend my afternoon at an Alice In Wonderland themed Plymouth blog meet. It was destined to be a super special event, which was organised again by the amazing LittleEllieMae, for only an 18 year old Ellie seriously amazes me with how much hard work she has put in for all of the events, and how each and every event has always been amazing, and this one definitely didn’t disappoint! The event was held in the most perfect picturesque setting for the Alice In Wonderland theme which was situated in the heart of Mount Edgecumbe, Cornwall, in The Orangery Cafe. With Canapes to hand, a selection of some lovely brands on hand to help, and about 40 lovely bloggers to mingle with, the event was a hit all round!
Mount Edgecumbe is seriously one of my favourite places, and I couldn’t have been happier when Ellie confirmed this was going to be the location. Mount Edgecumbe can easily be driven to by road from Plymouth, but I prefer taking the much more traditional ferry across which takes around 10 minutes – it’s always one of my favourite things to do! I met up with Beth and Hannah going across on the ferry, and we were getting on like a house on fire from the word go. It’s always nice to go into the event knowing someone beforehand!
We really couldn’t have asked for better weather on Saturday, and the rich green gardens in Mount Edgecumbe were looking as gorgeous as ever. We had about half an hour to spare before the event so we headed for a look around the gardens..
The gardens really could be the perfect setting for an Alice In Wonderland film, all the greenery is so perfectly manicured and rich in colour. Mount Edgecumbe really is a must see place if you’re ever in the area of Plymouth or Cornwall.
After taking in the beautiful sights, and basking in the sun, we headed down for the event due to start at 1pm!
The Orangery Cafe is situated in the heart of Mount Edgecumbe and is a lovely place to come and admire the views of the garden and indulge in a slice of cake or two… It was the perfect place for such an event to be held, and we were greeted with some of the most beautifully dressed tables, and oh so appropriate for the event. With quirky teapot flower pots, with sequins and keys galore. The pastel themed colour scheme obviously won me over straight away too!
Even the napkins were Alice In Wonderland themed – I didn’t even want to use mine it was so perfect!
The tables quickly filled out with lots of lovely bloggers, some which had travelled further afield than Plymouth. I already knew a selection of bloggers from the Plymouth area from previous events, but it was super lovely to meet some more like minded individual creatives – I love getting to hear about other peoples blogs and the successes they have achieved. A noisy room of bloggers was quickly hushed by the arrival of beautiful canapes, with photographing and eating that ensued!
After clearing our plates of canapes, it was time for some more mingling and circulating the room to talk to some more bloggers. I couldn’t not get a picture of Ellie from the day, how beautiful did she look?! She’s such an inspiration, and an asset to the Plymouth blogging community, she will definitely be missed when she heads off to University in September!
The lovely Hannah, Emily and Sally – loving their take on the Alice In Wonderland theme!
Ellie even managed to get some amazing brands on-board for the day who were on hand to tell us all about their fantastic products, and provide some guidance and mini skin care consultations.
I am a major fan of Origins, and a prolific user of their out of trouble face mask, which is errr-mazing!! I’ve never tried anything else from their range so it was nice to be introduced to their other products in more detail, and on a first hand basis. I got to take away a few lovely samples of their face masks too, which I’m certain I am going to love!
No7 were also there at the event and on hand with their drool-worthy collection of cosmetics. I didn’t get too much of a chance to see what was going on here, but as I went to the No7 beauty event last year and learnt all about their products then I wasn’t too fussed!
It was then time for some heart felt speeches and a range of giveaways!
Did someone say cake?
After the series of prizes were drawn for a few lucky bloggers, Ellie ended it with a rather lovely speech. I’m so proud of what Ellie has put together for us over the last year and the air was filled with rounds of applause and joy!
With a list as long as my arm of blogs, twiiter handles and names, I felt that we carved an even bigger space for bloggers in Devon and Cornwall, and I was overjoyed to meet more new bloggers that are local to the area, like every event I ever go to, everyone was so lovely! It was fast approaching 4pm without even realising, and it was sadly time for us to depart. We even left with the most adorable goody bags, again with the most perfect Alice graphics printed on the front – I’m never going to be able to chuck away this beautiful paper bag!
I then had my cake and ate it! I had the most wonderful day I could have asked for, meeting a bunch of pretty amazing bloggers, indulging in some yummy foods whilst soaking up the atmosphere in The Orangery! I just want to say another big thank you to Ellie for organising the event and letting me be a part of the event, it was one of the best, and biggest events in Plymouth yet, and that is definitely something to be proud of!
Did you go to this event? Have you been to any blogger events recently?
