Spring Pink Shoes Wishlist

Pink Lace Up Flats / Pink Ankle Boots / Tassel Front Loafers / Reebox Trainers / Feather Sandals / Patent Ankle Boots / Pink Leather Brogues / Copper Toes Ballet Flats

Who doesn't love pink, and shoes? I certainly do! As my pastel obsession grows year upon year I'm constantly scrolling the new in section on my favourite sites, shoes being one of my favourite items of clothing to shop for! There's nothing quite like a good pair of shoes to finish off an outfit, they make my work outfits so much more fun too!

I've picked a selection of pink lovelies with flats, heels and lace ups! I've grown so fond of trainer style shoes recently, mostly because I don't end up with blisters and tired feet, but with so many exciting designs on the market these days they make for such a cool, casual outfit with jeans and a bomber jacket. I am also obsessed with these pink patent style shoes, a refreshing use of the fabric as opposed to those hideous PVC skirts that just looked dreadful on me... I kinda need all of the pink flats too as they make for the cutest work outfits, and well, the copper toe capped flats from Asos are another ball game all together, how amazing are they?! Now I've got my feet sorted for Spring, I just need the spring like weather to follow in suit...

Do you like pink shoes? What do you think of my picks? Which pair is your favourite?

OOTD | Chi Chi London Princess Dress

Chi Chi Trixie Dress* - Chi Chi London
Court Shoes - Next

I don't think it's possible for me to love a dress more than this princess esque Chi Chi London dress! With a billowing tulle skirt, netted bodice and glitter laden fabric, even the super wet and windy couldn't detract from the beauty of this dress! It really does have the perfect trio of features! It provides the most flattering fit, and the tulle skirt really is what dreams are made of, I paired it with some simple baby pink court shoes to keep with the pastel theme - you probably know by now that I'm a massive fan of pastels! This stunning dress is literally the perfect evening, wedding, prom or cruise dress - I can't wait to get some more wear out of this, and the weather will hopefully be a bit nicer too! This dress is available in a couple of other colours too, the pink one they do really is the ultimate princess pastel dream! Chi Chi London is my go to for formal and evening dresses, everything is that bit different to the high street, and if like me you like glitter, pastels and princessey vibes, I think you'll like it too!

My hair was slowly disheveled by the end of this shoot, after being battered by the wind and rain at 9am, but I think these photos speak for themselves that it didn't matter, as I was super happy and care free wearing this gorgeous dress in my favourite location!

In other news I am flying out to New York tomorrow EEK! I am super excited for the shopping, sightseeing and food, and it goes without saying that I am also dying for a week off work as I haven't properly had time off since August, well over due! I have a post scheduled for whilst I am away, but I will be updating you all on my travels on social media - so many good photo opportunities! I hope you all have a great week and I will catch up with you all when I'm back!

What do you think of this dress? Do you like Chi Chi London dresses? What do you think of the location?

Work Wear Series: Khaki Wrap Dress

Khaki Wrap Dress* - Vesper Dresses
Boots - Schuh
Bag - Carvela by Kurt Geiger

As I spend 80% of my week in work clothes I thought it was about time that I started a work wear series of outfits, that will undoubtedly come in handy for me on those days that I'm too tired to pick out an outfit, and for those who like myself work full time, are going for interviews or just need some nice formal outfit inspiration! Above all, I want to show you all that work wear does not have to mean black clothing all round, and it definitely doesn't have to be boring! Whether I'm wearing pom pom flats, or polka dot trousers, it's the little things that help to brighten up my day in the office! My office dress code is smart casual, but I am required to be well dressed when we meet our clients, so my outfits usually are smart - I always feel more ready for work when I am dressed well anyway! I think we can all safely say that we have to rotate our outfits around each week, and of course I prefer dressing on the weekends in casual clothes, but I have definitely got more experimental with work clothes recently and I'm starting off the first post in the series with this amazing khaki wrap dress from Vesper Dresses

I have had a few dresses from Vesper before and the quality of their dresses is second to none, you can always rely on them for finding a functional yet stylish dress, I actually wore one of their dresses to my Graduation and still wear it to work now! I've styled this wrap dress with a white vest top as I would feel a bit exposed in this at work without one, but this can fully be worn for a weekend outfit too as it's so stylish! I love the wrap tie as it really draws in my figure, whilst being really flattering. It looks perfect with my knee high boots and matching bag. Khaki really has been one of my favourite colours this Autumn/Winter - it's such a versatile colour that also isn't black! It's thumbs up all round for this dress!

I hope you all have a fab weekend! Do you think a work wear series is a good idea? What do you think of this dress? Have you heard of Vesper Dresses before?

Open Water Swimming Series: Plymouth Breakwater Swim

After I watched 200 swimmers do a grueling 2.2 miles swim across the Plymouth sound last year I knew it had to be my challenge for 2016. I love to push and challenge myself in life, and I firmly believe that amazing things happen when you get out of your comfort zone, and I will truly be doing that with my open water swimming journey. A few weeks ago I set things in stone, and I'm now officially signed up for the 2.2 miles breakwater swim (roughly 160 lengths of a 25m pool) which takes place in August, so there really is no going back now *gulps*. So you can grasp just how far that is, the above picture shows the breakwater at the far right in the distance (a short line), and I will be swimming in to the shoreline on the left - so basically straight across. Pretty far huh? I'm also setting myself a personal target of finishing it in under an hour, so the pressure really is on! Whilst I'm never gong to lose my competitive streak, the breakwater swim is in aid of The Chesnut Appeal who run this event and many other sporting events like this in the South West to raise lots of money for prostate cancer. So it's a great opportunity to give to such a good cause, and to also achieve something for myself at the same time!

Whilst I've been a competitive swimmer for most of my life, the sea has been one territory that I have always been too scared to venture in for more than a paddle - the sea truly does terrify me. It's a mixture of fearing the unknown, the thought of what's beneath me, and undoubtedly from watching too many shark films! The sea opens you up to all of the elements, and it's the unpredictability that scares me, as even the strongest swimmer can't compete with the power that the sea can hold over you. It's a massive understatement that it will be a huge difference from the tame environment of a chlorinated swimming pool and the warm poolside. Realistically I have 6 months to train for this, and as they say there's nothing to fear apart from fear itself. It's definitely a mind over matter thing, and it's going to be a pretty big thing for me to overcome.

I train in the pool a few times a week anyway doing a long distance, so my training programme is going to be more about sustaining that, and of course challenging myself to start training in the sea... Due to my stint of crossfit I've unfortunately been laid up with a shoulder injury since the start of the year now, it's so frustrating when you finally start getting into a good routine and an injury strikes. Shoulders are the integral driving force when you're swimming so I'm trying to take it easy at the moment and I'm still undergoing physio, so I will hopefully be back to proper training in a couple of weeks time!

Because this is going to be such a huge challenge for myself I've decided to document this through an open water swimming series, my way of showing people what open water swimming is really like, and as something for myself to look back over, and hopefully to see how far I have come! I'm also part of a Devon wild swimming group on Facebook which is a pool full of information and motivation about open water swimming, some of these hardy swimmers have been braving the sea all winter, even during the height of the storms! Whilst I definitely won't be going in the sea until the weather starts heading in the right direction, I will be updating my series monthly starting with training updates, the trials and tribulations of open water swimming, all leading up to the event. I hope you'll all stick around and join me on this terrifying journey. I'm filled with trepidation, fear and dread, but who knows, I might actually enjoy it?

Have you tried open water swimming before?

OOTD | Pastel Princess

Coat - Primark (old)
Jumper - Primark
Jeans - Topshop
Bag - River Island
Brogues - Dune
Watch - Olivia Burton
Hair curled using: Lee Stafford CHoPstick Styler

I have been trying to get some outfit pictures for 4 weeks now! It's dark when I leave and come home from work so weekends are my only option, and when it always rains in Plymouth it really is a nightmare! But I actually managed to get some snaps between showers yesterday so it really did get my weekend off to a good start!

If you've followed my blog or Instagram for a while you'll know that I'm obsessed with pastels whatever the season! This will always be my favourite coat which I still can't believe is from Primark! I paired it with this Tres Cool jumper which is also from Primark - and only £5! It's 'so me', and I love the graphics on the front. I saw this on their Instagram and had to have it, I was in luck when my store actually had it which never happens for me!

Meanwhile the Chopstick Styler from Lee Stafford is undoubtedly the best discovery of 2016 so far. It creates the most amazing tight corkscrew curls. This is the only curler that works well on my straight hair and creates curls that don't fall out which is the major sticking point with other curlers/rollers. It took me a long time to curl my whole hair with this as you have to use small sections of hair to create the tight curls, I rushed my hair this time and used slightly bigger sections of hair than I should and it still came out so well! I really do have mermaid hair with this styler, and it even lasts for a couple of days through sleeps which is amazing. I now really want to have curly hair like every day! So thank you Lee Stafford for creating this amazing styler, I don't know what I did without you before!!

What do you think of this outfit? Have you heard of the chopstick styler before? Do you like curly hair?

3 Ingredient Healthy Oat Cookies | Recipe

I'm a firm believer in the 80/20 rule of life, I also personally think fad diets and waist trainers are a waste of time, and whilst you will notice differences within a couple of weeks, you'll find that the results are generally short term. I eat a very balanced diet during the week with a lot of protein to complement my training and I try to cut out as much sugar as I can out of my diet, it really is the route of all evil. Sugar makes me really ill whether it's in chocolate, cakes or bread so I really do try to avoid it in the week. Because I'm busy all week as well I struggle to find a range of healthy snacks to keep me going, Nakd bars are my instant go to as they are healthy and easy, but I was looking out for something else that I could bulk cook and have in my lunch boxes during the week. I have pinterest to thank for this little find again, there are SO many recipes for 3 ingredient cookies on there and they literally are what they say, 3 ingredients, and super easy. It probably takes me about 5 minutes to whip it all together and put it into the oven, and it makes roughly 19 small cookies which I can freeze and eat when I want! As I said there are many different variations to this and I was dubious at first because I literally hate banana. Which is annoying as it's probably one of the best fruits to eat post exercise, banana is a very distinctive taste, but don't let it put you off as when you combine the different ingredients and cook them the taste is so faint that you won't realise it's there! Because I love this recipe so much I thought I would share it with you all, it really is the perfect recipe if you're looking for something quick, healthy and delicious!

Serves: 17 small cookies
  • 2 bananas
  • 2 cups of oats
  • Dark chocolate chips or cut up dark chocolate (more than 60% - the healthier it becomes!)
  • Cinnamon or other spices (optional)

1. Peel the bananas and mash them up in a bowl, this can be done with a potato masher or a fork.
2. Once at a smooth consistency add 2 cups of oats to the mixture and stir until they are both well combined.
3. Then start adding in your chocolate chips and any other spices. I LOVE cinnamon and have it on everything, it's a great anti inflammatory, antioxidant and is so good for you. The reason I use so much in this recipe is because it takes away the taste of the banana. You can add as many chocolate chips and cinnamon as you wish though which is why I haven't stated how much to add in the ingredients list.
4. Once it's all mixed in together, start scooping the mixture out onto a baking tray. Make sure it has baking parchment on first as they will stick else! I usually do tablespoon dollops of the mixture which makes small cookies. You can make them as big as you wish though.
5. Then cook in the oven at 180 degrees for roughly 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
6. Freeze the cookies in the freezer, and call upon when needed!
They also taste amazing fresh from the oven thanks to the gooey chocolate chips! Who knew being healthy could be so tasty?! It definitely is something I look forward to as my mid morning snack at work!

Lush Valentine's And Mother's Day Haul

It took me almost 2 months to work my way through the Christmas Lush bath bombs and bubble bars, and whilst I'm so sad to see Christmas finally dissolve away, I was SO ready to stock up on the new Valentine's Day and Mother's day range of lush bath bombs, ballistics and bubble bars. I was initially quite disappointed at their range of Valentine's products this year as they seem to have been drastically cut back, but they still have a really nice offering with some new ones this year. The Mother's Day range also has some pretty new additions, as well as the Prince Charming and yummy mummy shower gel to name a few others bits in their range. I picked up a selection of bath products from their new range so my Lush basket is now adequately stocked up until the Easter range comes along!
Basket - John Lewis!
So much prettiness (*love heart eyes*)!
I think this may be the second or third year of the unicorn horn bubble bar now, and it's no surprise that it comes back every year as it really does seem to be one of the most popular. It probably helps that people seem to be absolutely obsessed with unicorns at the moment, and the pretty candy coloured stripes unwind into a lovely bubbly and lavender scented bath!
The ladybird bubble bar has a serious cute factor!! Probably one of the cutest ones since butterbear, I really can't face having to crumble this little beauty up in the bath though!
I think Honey Bee bath bomb is fairly new, it may even be part of the Mother's day range, but either way i'm looking forward to relaxing with this one, it is made from a blend of honey, aloe vera, and rhassoul mud for a really silky and nourishing bath.
If the little hearts didn't give it away, lover lamp bath bomb is part of the Valentine's day range and is made with fair trade organic cocoa butter, well known for its smoothing and nourishing properties. It also contains swirls of vanilla and chocolate orange for a really fragrant bath!
Big bang bubble bar is sure to brighten up a miserable February evening! It's filled with softening butter and other zesty ingredients for a colourful, bubbly and sweet smelling bath!
Tisty Tosty is a special edition for the Valentine's range which is studded with real rosebuds. I love bath bombs like this as I always keep the rosebuds afterwards once they've dried up as they still smell just as good! I can imagine this will be a fairly plain bath, but really luxurious and silky!
Likened to bathing in space, Intergalactic is an all time fav of mine, just like the experimenter. Once you pop this one in the bath it explodes into a sensation of beautiful colours, and really will send you up to cloud nine with its refreshing mix of fragrances.
Despite the limited amount of items this year in both ranges, I always think that Lush really do top themselves each year on their seasonal collections! Lush Oxford Street, online and Lush Kitchen also have further additions to these ranges though so it's definitely worth checking them out too for some exclusives! Whilst I start working my way through these you can expect lots more Lush bath pictures on my Instagram! I now await the Easter collection...

What do you think of the new Valentine's & Mother's day products? What would you like to try?
